Terms of Service

In short: QRLens is a free local utility offered as-is. You may use it freely for personal or business work. You are responsible for what you scan and for deciding whether to trust it, and for keeping your own copies of anything you care about.
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of the QRLens desktop application and this website, both provided by IAM_DEV. By installing or using QRLens you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the application.
2. Licence
QRLens is provided free of charge. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on computers you control, for personal or commercial purposes. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the application, or present it as your own product. You may not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or derive the source of the application except where that restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
3. No account and no service dependency
QRLens does not provide an online service. There is no account to create, nothing to subscribe to, and no server component that IAM_DEV operates on your behalf. The application runs on your own computer, and its availability depends on your machine rather than on us.
4. Your data is yours, and only yours
Your scan history, your generated codes, and every image or capture you scan remain on your own computer. IAM_DEV has no access to any of it and cannot retrieve, restore, or recover it for you under any circumstances.
Because there is no cloud copy, deleting a history entry, clearing your history, removing the application's data folder, or losing the computer means that data is gone permanently. If your scan history matters to you, keep your own backups of the data folder. IAM_DEV cannot help you recover it after the fact.
5. Responsibility for scanned content
A QR code is only a container for data written by whoever created it. QRLens decodes what a code contains and shows it to you; it does not verify, endorse, or vouch for that content in any way.
Scanned codes can contain links to harmful or deceptive websites, misleading contact details, or network credentials you should not trust. You are solely responsible for deciding whether to open, act on, or rely on anything QRLens decodes. Treat codes from unknown sources with the same caution you would apply to an unexpected link in a message.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use QRLens to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to capture, decode, or generate content you have no right to handle. You are responsible for ensuring that scanning a particular screen, document, or physical item is permitted in your situation, including at work and in any jurisdiction whose rules apply to you.
7. Generated codes
Codes you create with QRLens are yours to use as you wish. You are responsible for the content you encode into them and for any consequences of distributing them, including ensuring you hold the necessary rights to any material you encode.
8. Availability and changes
QRLens may be updated, changed, or discontinued at any time. Features may be added or removed between versions. Copies already installed on your computer continue to work as they are; we do not disable installed software remotely.
9. No warranty
QRLens is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. IAM_DEV does not warrant that scanning will always succeed, that every code will be recognized, that decoded results will be accurate or complete, or that the application will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use QRLens — including any consequence of acting on the contents of a scanned code. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case they apply only to the extent permitted.
11. Third-party stores
If you obtained QRLens through the Microsoft Store, that store's own terms also govern your download and installation. Those terms are between you and the store operator.
12. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page with the date shown above. Continuing to use QRLens after a change means you accept the revised terms.
